Q Bone

Chef. Creator. Community Advocate.
The Story

Fire. Food. Culture. Community.

Charles “Q Bone” Rachal is a Los Angeles chef, community activist, and longtime peace advocate whose life has connected food, hip-hop culture, and community work for more than three decades. Today, he is widely known as Snoop Dogg’s personal and tour chef, traveling and cooking within Snoop’s world while also operating catering services and building his own identity through Cooking with Q Bone.

Long before his work in the kitchen became widely known, Q Bone played a role in one of Los Angeles’ most significant grassroots peace movements. A former member of the 5 Duce Broadway Crips, Rachal became involved in efforts to reduce gang violence and build communication between rival groups during the early 1990s. Contemporary reporting from 1993 identified him as a partner in South-Central Los Angeles Youth and Community Services and documented his work alongside former rival gang members in the aftermath of the 1992 Los Angeles unrest.

That work brought national attention. Rachal was selected as one of 50 “distinguished Americans” invited to a special event in Washington surrounding President Bill Clinton’s 1993 inauguration.

His commitment to peace did not end with that era. Q Bone has continued working around gang intervention, youth mentorship, nonviolence, and community change, using his own experience to reach young people and encourage alternatives to violence. His professional representation describes him as someone who has helped facilitate truces between rival gangs and worked to redirect young men and women involved in gang activity.

Good food creates a place for people to gather, connect, and build something better.

Food became another vehicle for that same philosophy of bringing people together. As a chef, Q Bone has cooked professionally for Snoop Dogg both privately and on tour, with his own professional profile describing the opportunity to travel internationally while cooking for Snoop.

A 2025 interview on the James Loud Podcast described him as having more than two decades of culinary experience and explored his journey from Los Angeles street life into celebrity catering, touring, and his role as Snoop Dogg’s chef.

Q Bone has also brought his cooking and message to television and public events. In 2022, he appeared on Wonderama during the program’s Times Square season, including an episode with Dr. Bernice A. King. Through a partnership involving Wonderama and HealRWorld, he participated in Cooking with QBone programming designed to connect cooking with messages about social justice, climate justice, nonviolence, and gang prevention for younger audiences.

That combination of chef and peace advocate continues to define his public work. At the 2024 Earth Day event in Times Square, he was presented as both a peace activist and Snoop Dogg’s private chef, reflecting the two sides of a career that has increasingly become one story: using food, conversation, and lived experience to bring people together.

For Q Bone, cooking is bigger than what comes off the grill. His story is rooted in transformation, community, culture, and the idea that people from different backgrounds can still find common ground. Whether he is cooking on tour, serving a crowd, appearing on television, mentoring young people, or speaking about peace, the same theme runs through his work: good food creates a place for people to gather, connect, and build something better.

That makes the STONER × Q BONE collaboration a natural extension of what he already represents — fire, food, culture, conversation, and community brought together around one table.
